Returning to the West Coast
Returning to the West Coast hurt my soul in shards. Sometimes you realize that stability is an illusion. That the deep green coniferous trees and the rolling distance blue of the mountains pressing up against the sky into the sea may serve as a constant, but people are not. Even our landscape is incredibly fragile, subject to our influences, and I wonder where this force comes from in our nature to upset, to shift, to press forward. Whether time truly is the culprit, or a human construct set as a scapegoat. Yet I revel in my humanness and drink in the salt spray air with open hopes singing to the cloud-strewn horizon. No answer is necessary. For now, I am home at last.

Hello internet world!
I realize that I probably just blogged the way you are not supposed to blog - as in using all of your past material and posting it in one day. However, when I read blogs myself, I usually do not do so in a timely fashion, and much prefer having an endless backlog of material to sift through. Hopefully this method will redeem itself that way!
This abundant first posting allows me to make relevant, current, upcoming posts in the future as well. Although please note that I tend to write poems once a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. It's not a timed thing.
Also, yes, I do write a lot of academic poetry, but in addition I do write prose, poetry prose, sonnets, and free verse of more serious and personal content involving topics like Canadian landscape, religion, and emotions (usually emotions to be fair) among others. These may or may not be posted in the future on this blog. I am not sure at this point. I may have other aspirations for them. :)

Lost in the Matrix (the sequel!)
You look in my direction, are we on the same plane?
And with your gaze, productively we’re crossed:
I’m tip over tail with addition to gain,
But is my point clear or the location lost?
What is the basis for this emotional span?
For null spaced are we with the origin clear.
Your reflection is needed, please understand
To transform to greater dimensions here.
It’s trivial I know, but I must suppose,
As I analyze factors to reduced form:
Is it an adjoint, or just a transpose?
Eigen solve it, eigen solve it, is this the norm?
But when you do speak, with your identity shown,
You’re neither columns nor rows, but a space of your own.

Operation Matrix
Let me examine you from every dimension
Before you start any identity extension,
And from your column, why what arose?
Is this really you or just a transpose?
It's elementary, my dear, operation reduce
To your purest form, no need to induce,
To invert, or expand - don't isolate me!
Though we associate, is this symmetry?
I won't lead you on, I'm not that type of one,
Some parameters are set - to come undone.
Not schewing results, consider, give it a try:
Your M by the N with my j by the i, let's multiply?
Prove it, it's clear, our determinant is defined;
It's okay to be singular, but matrix you mine.

Quantum Antics
Oh prof, dear prof, I don't mean to superimpose
Though empirical methods work, nobody knows.
Despite quantizing energy, there's no method for thought;
I'm drowning in these waves, though constructively I'm taught:
You can Bohr into my skull with any force that can relate,
The distance never lessens, and the field remains great.
Oh prof, dear prof, I'm not giving any charge;
Scattered is my mind, and these concepts are large,
But why what now interrupts this instruction -
Where's the file, the file, the interference of destruction -
Planck's constant was the answer, Planck's constant resolved,
And with these new equations classical physics dissolved!
Prof, I hear you, but the questions radiate out,
I can't perfectly absorb the proofs that you spout
Photons were emitted, and thus, the difference signified
One moment, hold on, is this the right slide?
And bosons aren't fermions - wait you don't know their type -
What's that music? The prof has a call on skype?
And Einstein used Planck's constant for the photoelectric effect
Which illuminated Planck's equation in retrospect.
Wow, what brilliance defined this great man Planck!
And just as I'm understanding the screen goes blank.
Run, prof, run! Get that powercord fast!
Only 15 minutes left of this class!
And amongst the last of the technological panics,
We still have hopes to master quantum mechanics.

Chem Silliness
So the chem lecture kinda took me for a spin
PAULI EXCLUSION PRINCIPLE - where to begin?
And now I'm feeling in the singlet state,
I'm full of entanglement. Infinite? Great!
But with this intrigue I'll emerge from my shell
As my energy level is doing just swell
This uncertainty sways my position here
Why! I'm in for an interesting year! :D

Sonnet without a Title
Love me not from lust, nor wistful desire,
Nor mere physical attributes alone,
For age weakens that insufficient fire:
Divots will dapple my face to a crone.
Let me uncover your mind, cherish'd bare,
And if we discover at time's leisure
Honest discussions gain trust we will share;
Our values, pure, meld with wit and measure.
Then, only then, love emerges with grace
From these thoughts beyond our fair youthful frame.
Gentle virtues reassure and replace
Every fear of forthcoming pain or shame.
If loyalty be not worth to allot
Remain as honourable, love me not.

Alternate Structure of "The Human Seasons"
Each year consists of two semesters long;
Such is the life of a grade twelve student:
The crisp pages of opened books, the throng,
Of classmates gathered; attentive, prudent,
He rakes learning that he accumulates.
Then comes flurries of homework: the on-slot
Settles on the weary brain; insulates
The oncoming new year to melt not thought,
But regenerate the buds; his growth steep
He branches to discover his passion
And flower he must; contented to reap
Both semesters' ends, in his own fashion.
For harvest, eventually, labour's fruit
Else he satisfies not student's pursuit.

Edmund is a Base
Another King Lear parody.
Chem test!
"I shall study deserving."
Edmund: Wherefore base? Bastardly? Base? Base? With base?
They remark with acid tongues of bitter
Compounding - tart mother, lustful father
Combined under the vast alkaline sky.
That junction of chemicals should instead
Grant a product neutral, not henceforth claimed
As base! Why should Edgar with no stronger
Concentration in his blood be favoured?
I, Edmund, shall shift equilibrium
And hence constantly reap the higher yield.
Strongly I proceed: may structure corrode.

Added Scene to King Lear
*After France and Cordelia's wedding, King Lear's banishment still brings unease to the new bride.*
France: How now Cordelia?
Wither comes this wearied look which creeps
To invade the fairness of your face?
Our nuptial duties approach with promise,
Yet worry attacks the vulnerable
Lines of profile; chin soft, and curving lips
Should not falter at lover's gentle kiss
And new husband's embrace that protects thee.
Cordelia: Leave me! Thrust not into my thoughts!
France: Come, now.
Cordelia: His glowering eyes still pierce my mind since
His cruel utterance of my banishment.
Why must the truth of a love that loves true
Meet undue punishment and withdrawal?
No fatherly consent to our shared vows
Exchanged with pious honesty, I do,
Was awarded to dutiful daughter,
Now made a fortunate wife.
France: The King knows not what he has cast that I reel.
Cordelia: If a squeeze on my hand predicted the rest
Hold it until the circulation cuts
So the racing pulse does not constrict.
Amputate thoughts so dreams severe and limp
And tell promises that delude ever-after.
Whisper fairytales - for only a phase
Is this life - short episodes that peter out.
When the sun's sleepy rays emerge over
The landscape of my mind, which yawning
Awakes and stretches to accept the means,
I shall enter into fair embrace
Of a longtime ago, far, far away.
France: What of our marriage? A new dawn that rises
Upon sun's bitter set of previous night,
Of past darkness effaced, by shared benison.
Cordelia: How can I love thee in earnest, love thee true
When wedding bells smashed by dissonance?
France: Let not angry voice's echoes pursue
And overshadow marriage's balance.
What caught mine eye was your feminine grace
Like a glimmer in sand stretching beyond,
Out plucked the diamond, with glorious face.
Cordelia: And your gaping fortune vast, was pawned.
Severed by family, absence of mere name.
To such strength in a man of regal poise
I present myself dressed merely in shame.
France: Bejewelled in honour, for honest rejoice.
Cordelia: Yet diamonds are cold, no heart beats within.
France: Have heart, my darling, let our era begin.
Exeunt.

Personified Bonding
There once was a dipole called Whypole
(He liked to question a lot)
The who, what, where, when, and how pole
Will be answered by the end of the plot.
In London he met a hydro called Gen,
And they struck up quite a strong bond.
Their inter-force was molecular of sorts
And as time passed they grew fond.
But structure was need, as charge depleted,
And so Lewis arrived on the dot.
A ceremony occurred, formula drawn up
And so Whypole and Gen tied the knot.
During the reception, the dance sped up
The crowd grew more concentrated;
The temperature increased, reservations ceased
And the final reaction escalated.
Whypole and Gen dispersed from the group
The lowered potential had its effects.
Alone, they two, both knew what was due
And together... formed an activated complex.

Ode to Physics + Antigone Parody
Ode to The Mighty Electric Forces and Fields
Have you ever experienced intensity aligned?
Electric to the centre, to the heart of your mind
Radial, beaming, they chart me on course
I've never encountered such an attractive force.
The potential grows, but the consistency of the field
Ensures that tomorrow, predictably will yield.
Repulsion repels, but practicality is due
So no, I will not share electrons with you.
Or if you prefer
Great physics! How you honour us each block
With wonder upon wonder - each problem a vast tide
Of knowledge that cascades over - drowning man
In her wake.
Physics of all power! Justification beyond measure!
Your models stupefy and awe the victors and defeated alike
With variables beyond belief, a consistent source
That crashes and crushes, tempering the mind as iron,
Invoking fury and fear. Your enemies tremble
To face you - your friends tread lightly.
But look! Who comes now?
Mr. Mathematics, the new King For the new day.
What ever the Gods are sending now...
Mr. Mathematics: Great happiness! The slope of the tangent line!
***flip through to after when Mr. Mathematics proclaims Ms. Ln's death because several of her points are not defined according to his domain. Ms. Parabola is sympathetic to Ms. Ln, her sister and says***
Ms. Parabola: Mr. Mathematics, would you deny your son his bride to marry?
Mr. Mathematics: There are other functions for him to plot.

Limitations
Limitations - I hope to calculate
My rate of change and the path to take.
Is my function even defined?
I don't see a normal to my tangent line.
The new equation that I try to derive
Is insufficient data to flourish or thrive.
But perhaps it's only a matter of degree,
Limitations - they're all relative - to me.
